- Housekeeping/ Kennel Tech - This is as a part time opportunity requiring weekends, mornings, and holidays. We do have limited evening hours. This is a Part Time Kennel Tech position. We have a three phase hiring process. Only those who complete both phases will be considered for employment. JOB DESCRIPTION Pets in our facility must be cared for promptly, every day. The facility is staffed 365 days a year and is exceptionally busy when schools are on holiday recess. Experience is not necessary, however a genuine love for animals is a must. You must be able to handle dogs of all sizes without being afraid of them and without allowing them to control you. We can teach you this part! You must be in good physical condition, able to squat, stoop, bend, lift, and do a lot of walking. Must be willing to maintain the highest standards in cleanliness. We have built a work culture were accomplishing goals is key to success. We have educational opportunities and areas that you can grow in as you deepen your experience in the pet care field. NEED TO (the must have’s): Be able to lift 40 lbs. Be able to handle dogs of all sizes Customer interface to include checking pets in and out. Must be able to be physically active during all seasons. Understand that most of this job is cleaning and/or walking untrained dogs. You will likely be jumped on! WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: You will be involved with all of the day-to-day activities that happen here. You are key to each pet’s stay – making sure everything that the facility is sharp and clean. You may also assist our advanced kennel techs with various tasks related to the dogs. Entry level kennel techs begin their responsibilities with: Making sure the assigned areas of the facility are clean and sanitary. Maintaining the daily duties and in a timely manner. Maintaining a highest level of cleanliness in all areas of our facility, play yards and outdoor dog patios. Feeding the Rescue and/or boarding dogs. Basic grooming of dogs: bathing, nail trims, brushing and ear cleaning. (if learning to skills to advance within our company) Possible minimal Customer Interface (check in/ Check out of boarding guests) DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION High school diploma or equivalent Previous experience in a pet facility or pet care environment a plus but definitely not required Excellent work history and references COMPENSATION Pay depends on experience $17-$20+. Our kennel techs start at $17 hour. At 90 days you can advance to Guest Services if you prove you are dependable and can work unsupervised. This comes with a $3/hour raise. At six months, you will be eligible to become a kennel lead (with a raise) and at one year, you will be able to enroll in our trainer school (at no cost to you). We want people to advance! The more responsibility you take, the more your pay increases. We typically start people at 12-20 hours per week. We know many people want more hours and we have them typically available! But we want to set people up for success, and we find most people are a bit overwhelmed after 4 hours while they are training. We limit non-trainers to a maximum of 28 hours per week, unless we have some extra shifts that need to be filled temporarily and you are qualified and want to pick them up.
